better man. BUT try cleaning up your paintings. give me some concise details and hard edges
Try some black and whites man, focusing on blending and gradations and forgetting about colour for the time being. Try some natural media brushes out, like charcoal, it might make the transition easier.
Yes. Definitly use different brushes, different opacity and flow.
Also just try throwing more colors. With some practice this summer im sure you will progress a lot.
Also try searching the intrawebz for some tutorials. Starting from www.deviantart.com to youtube speed painting videos, also a really nice site called tutorialoutpost.com
Even typing photoshop tutorials into google will get you a ton of stuff. Just practice it more and get more familiar with all the functions photoshop gives you.
Austin, I look at this piece and the first thing that comes to my mind is that nothing about it is finished. This is a rough sketch, an idea quickly captured before it fleeted. I see little experimentation and definitely not enough hours put in. It reveals a lack of patience. I can pretty much see every brush stroke. You really need to take it further and, like Adam said, tighten it up a lot more. I do like your rough, concept-like style, but this is a little too rough, imo. This would kick ass as an oil painting though. All the best.
